Following the departure of the seven players recently added to an AFL list last week, the Club wishes to acknowledge the contribution of Jake Westbrook, Jake Weidemann and Tristan Carcuro who won’t be returning to Oval avenue in 2021.
Coming through the junior program, Westbrook spent seven seasons at Oval avenue playing 29 league matches and was a 2 x Reserves premiership player.
On his departure CEO Luke Powell said, “It always sad to see quality people leave the football club. Westy is just that and comes from a great family who travelled down from Paskeville every week to watch him play.”
Jake Weidemann also a product of the junior program, made his League debut in Round 1 2019 and went on to play three League matches that season. He was unable to crack the league side in 2020 but was a key player in the recent Reserves premiership team.
On his departure CEO Luke Powell said, “Jake probably hasn’t got the opportunities he would have liked this year. With his strong family connection here at the club we would have loved for Jake to stay but we understand and respect Jake wanting to seek a fresh start.”
Tristan’s path to league football followed a more unique path after coming out to Pre-Season at the end of 2019 from Sacred Heart Old Collegians aged 27. Debuting in Round 2 on Adelaide Oval Tristan played nine League matches in 2020 and was a member of the Reserves premiership team.
On his departure Senior Coach Jade Sheedy said, “Tristan should be extremely proud of what he achieved this season. Having coached against him at amateur level I knew he was capable of playing at League level and for him to do that this year I was just so happy for him.”
The Club wishes Jake, Jake and Tristan all the best for the future.
Stay tuned for more list updates in the coming days.
