It was tough conditions at Flinders University Stadium at Noarlunga with a constant strong cross wind and intermittent rain. Both sides toughed it out pretty well and the skills on display were good.
A tight first quarter saw both teams kick a goal with South taking a one point lead at quarter time and they kicked a goal in the second quarter while holding us scoreless and moved to an 11 point lead at half time.
We played some good footy in both the second and third quarter and we kicked 2 goals whilst holding South goal less and the difference was 2 points at three quarter time. We kicked the first goal of the last quarter to gain the lead but we were unable to hold off the Panthers and they had a deserved win – as the scores show, they had plenty of shots on goal.
Jedd Thomson moved into our midfield this week and played very well, finding plenty of the ball and tackling well. He was assisted well by Jordan Tilbrook and Bailey Arthur who were both tough and strong in the midfield and Oscar Pearce and Will McKay were mainstays of our defence with some strong spoiling and rebounding. Elex Day rounded out our best players with some good defence as well.
We have a short turn around this week, taking on Central Districts from 8pm on Thursday night, yet another great challenge for us.
