The Under 18s lost a tough game of footy on Saturday, losing to West Adelaide by 20 points. As we have done recently we again started well, controlling possession and defending well. We took a 19 point lead into quarter time but the Bloods responded in the second quarter, kicking 2 goals whilst holding us to just 2 points. The third quarter was relatively even with Westies kicking the first 3 goals but we responded with 2 late goals to make it just 8 points the difference at three quarter time. West kicked the opening 2 goals in the first 3 minutes to make our job a fair bit harder but we stuck to our task and despite generating 17 Inside 50s for the quarter we didn’t have our radar quite right kicking just 6 points for the quarter.
Once again Adam D’Aloia and Mattaes Phillipou were prolific ball winners and workers in our midfield and up forward and they were assisted by Brody Mair who won a lot of contested possessions . Oscar Pearce and Liam Modystach battled hard in our defence and Bailey Arthur was very good with his attack on the ball and pressure he applied.
So we go to the first bye without a win but in the first 7 weeks we have given 42 players a look at under 18 footy and we are improving all the time. We will continue to work hard to refine the way we want to play and I am sure we will see better results in this next part of our season.
