Barbary played 221 SANFL games, including 66 for Woodville between 1967-70. He previously played for North Adelaide, where he won the 1960 Magarey Medal and was part of the team’s Premiership in the same year.
Barrie represented South Australia 19 times, including being a part of the famous win over the Vics at the MCG in 1963, and he also coached Woodville in the League, Reserves and U19s.
A dashing wingman, Barrie Barbary was inducted to the South Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
He was 84 years old.
