Eagles 7.4 (46) def by Sturt 10.8 (68)
Goal scorers: D’Aloia 2, Branford, Pearce, Pitman, Ueding, Watson
Best Players: D’Aloia, Blair, Burgoyne, Branford, Ueding, Bennett
The players were looking forward to play their first home game for the year against Sturt.
Sturt began well and held a 14 point break at quarter time, the second term was a much better effort in which we were able to bring the margin back to 4 points.
After half time we began well and kicked 3 of the first four goals to open up a 9 point lead, however we dropped off towards the back end of the third and our final quarter was a bit disappointing also with Sturt kicking 6 of the last 7 goals of the match to win the game by 22 points.
Adam D’Aloia was good again up forward with kicking 2 goals, whilst Charlie Blair at half back and Jase Burgoyne on the wing got their fair share of the ball, Dylan Branford & Liam Ueding worked tirelessly thru the midfield whilst Lucas Bennett with Adam as a bottom ager was solid in defence.
With 2 games remaining we a currently sitting fourth on the ladder, with only one win separating 2nd to 7th spot on the ladder it looks to be tight for a finals berth.
This week at home against Glenelg on Sunday, we look forward to a more positive showing than what was displayed during the last quarter on Saturday.
