Tyson Stengle has today joined Geelong as a delisted free agent signing a two-year deal after starring at SANFL level in 2021.
In a bid to revive his AFL career, Stengle couldn’t have done much more, kicking 44 goals from his 19 matches playing a significant role in the Club going back-to-back for the first time in Club history. He represented South Australia against Western Australia at Adelaide Oval and he also made the SANFL Advertiser Team of the Year. More importantly Tyson took great strides off the field in 2021 taking on an administration role at the Club which provided him with great structure and purpose.
On Tyson’s departure CEO Luke Powell said, “Tyson has obviously had his challenges over the past 12 to 18 months which has been well documented, for him to turn things around the way he has is a tremendous achievement and great credit to him. We always knew what Tyson was capable of on the field, but watching him grow in his off-field role throughout the year has been very rewarding for all involved, especially the way he has applied himself. We wish Tyson all the best in the next chapter of his football career and hope he keeps on a pathway to life after football as well.”
“I would like to thank the Eagles Football Club, the coaches, the players and the front office for all their support. The club has really helped me get back on track this year, I couldn’t have done it without them and to win a premiership is something I’ll always cherish forever,” said Stengle.
