Goal Scorers: Sarah Perkins 2, Kiana Lee, Stephanie Walker, Rachel Dunstan
This week the Eagles took on Centrals at Coopers Stadium in a fairly warm affair. The first quarter saw the Eagles win plenty of the ball against the fellow first year team but although Kiana Lee broke through with a major, we were again we were unable to capitalise on our opportunities.
The second and third quarters again saw the Eagles win the clearances but missed opportunities saw more points than goals added to the score, with centrals breaking through for five goals over the 2 quarters. Zahn Anthony worked hard to shut out Centrals Chantel Reynolds, who was a strong target in their forward line. Sarah Perkins and Rachel Dunstan lead well for the Eagles up forward, slotting through two goals to keep us in touch going into the last.
Again, we were able to win the last quarter, with Stephanie Walker and Natalie Subelli getting their hands on the ball through the midfield. We are seeing improvement week-in week-out and will go into the break with a focus on converting our opportunities. The first three weeks has seen the Eagles women give themselves plenty of opportunities, it is time to start taking them.
After the break we look forward to seeing Tesharna Maher in action again, who was a stand out in Round 2 and we will look at the possible inclusion of hard-nosed defender Louisa Danforth-Smith and hardworking Ruck/ Forward Taylor McKay.
