After starting the year with 3 straight wins the reserves team had hit a little bump in their path losing the next 2. It was important as we travelled down to The Bay to get back on the winners circle and this was only going to happen if we upheld our standards and ensured we looked to do the basics well.
The first quarter was a tight contest on the scoreboard but with Glenelg dominating almost every key statistic our boys were lucky to take a 2 point lead into quarter time.
We felt as a midfield group if we could adjust some of our movement out of stoppage that this would put us in a very good position to take control of the match. We were able to get first hands on the football, apply team pressure to Glenelg and win our one on one contests to take a 20 point lead to half time.
Coming out after half time the second half for us as a group was to ensure we maintained our standards and worked together to demand that we don’t drop them in any occasion. To the young groups credit they stayed the course and were able to win each quarter on the scoreboard for the match and take home a 48 point win.
With a 4-2 record the bye will give the boys a chance to rest and prepare themselves for the next block of games. We look forward to seeing everyone at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
