The Woodville West Torrens Football Club is delighted to announce the signings of Connor Ballenden, Jarred Allmond and Mitch Duval.
Ballenden has spent the previous four seasons on the Brisbane Lions list after coming through the Lions Academy. The 200cm key forward debuted in 2020 and played 3 AFL matches. In his time at Brisbane, he played in two NEAFL premierships and recently won the Brisbane Lions VFL Best and Fairest for the 2021 season.
Senior coach, Jade Sheedy said on Ballenden’s signing, “Connor will be a great addition to our Club. He will complement our forward mix and also give us flexibility in the middle of the ground with ability to go into the ruck. We look forward to the arrival of Connor and partner Alex into South Australia early in the new year.”
On joining the Club, Ballenden said, “I was really impressed with how the club presented when I was in Adelaide last month. My partner Alex and I felt really comfortable in the way the Club was able to support with career opportunities.”
Allmond is already well known to our Club. He played his first 143 League games at Oval Avenue before moving to the North Adelaide Football Club where he spent the last four seasons and, in that time, became a 200 game SANFL player. Allmond is looking forward to finishing his career off back where it all began.
“I am very excited to back at the Eagles and playing footy where my career begun. I am grateful for Powelly and Sheeds for giving me this opportunity,” said Allmond.
On his signing CEO Luke Powell said, “It is great to have Jarred to return to the footy Club. He continues to play at a high level and has been really durable over his career. We think that he still has a few good years left in him yet. We welcome both Jarred and Bonnie back to the Club.”
Duval comes to the Club after spending the last two seasons at West Adelaide playing as an intercept defender and will prove a welcome addition after the recent departure of Premiership defenders Patrick Giuffreda and Ben Jungfer.
On joining the Club Duval said, “I’m excited to be joining the Eagles, a very strong and successful Club over the last 10 years or so. I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into at training, meeting everyone and continuing that success in 2022.”
Senior Coach Jade Sheedy said on Duval’s signing, “We are looking forward to having Mitch at our footy club. He will give us great balance in our side with the ability to play as a defender on both talls and smalls. He is a great character and will fit in really well.”
In other list management news, Jackson Lee and Nick Moore have advised the Club that they will be seeking opportunities elsewhere whilst Cooper Gaffney, Tom Schmusch and Seb Kerrish will return to local football in 2022.
“All five of these boys have tasted League football here at the Eagles and whilst they probably haven’t been able to cement themselves as League players as they would have liked, they have all been an integral part of the squad and helped drive the strong culture within the current playing group. We thank them all for their contributions to the Club and wish them all the best for the future,” said CEO Luke Powell.
