The Reserves met North Adelaide in perfect conditions for ANZAC Day footy at Maughan Thiem Kia oval.
The group started the match slowly in the first 5 minutes but were able to start winning the clearances and control the ball around the middle of the ground; taking an ascendancy into quarter time. The second quarter was the best quarter as a group we have played this season. Cooper Sharman was dominant up forward whilst Max Litster and Ryan Bruce were strong down back, intercepting the ball and showing great strength at the contest. Luke Beecken was providing great rebound and run off half back with his best game for the season. Through the midfield Lachie Hoile and Ethan Haylock again showed that they are in great form and found plenty of the ball. The 3rd quarter was a real arm wrestle and at 3/4 time our focus was to run out the game and finish strongly. As it occasionally happens in Reserves football, we had a dip in our performance and the key indicators that we pride ourselves on with a disappointing last quarter. North Adelaide played strongly, and we were unable to hold off their ball movement. Pleasingly though in the last few crucial moments of the game we were able to slow the game down and take time off the clock to maintain our slender lead and win the game.
Other strong performers for the day were Jordan Kasianowicz who backed up his 6 goals the week before with another 3. Seb Kerrish also played a strong game as a defender. This puts us 3 and 1 for the year and in a strong position with 2 games to go before a week off.
Next weekend we travel to Sturt to play in an early game at 9.10am, we hope to see some supporters who like an early coffee at the game otherwise join in via the Digital Pass and watch the exciting footy currently being played by our Reserves group.
