On Sunday we took on North Adelaide in front of a crowd of 2326 on ANZAC Day. We were fortunate to have Craig Hansen, a former local war veteran, informing the playing group the importance of ANZAC Day and what it means to him prior to the game commencing.
The first quarter saw the boys play some of the best footy we’ve played all year. This saw us go into the quarter time 3 goals up with a slight breeze.
The second quarter saw North Adelaide continually take advantage of our turnovers, allowing them to kick 6 goals to 2 in the second quarter, which saw us be down by 5 points at half time.
The last half was a real arm wrestle with both sides playing contested brand of footy; with only 5 goals scored by both teams in the half. The last 10 minutes saw some great individual moments, and our ability to stand up as a footy Club when challenged was very satisfying.
Well done to Joey Sinor, showing great leadership and composure kicking the final goal, and a great game by Sam Rowland; a much deservant winner of the Bob Quinn Medal.
Better players on the day were Sam Rowland, Matthew Goldsworthy, Jack Hayes, Riley Knight, Jimmy Toumpas and Troy Menzel.
We look forward to taking on Port Adelaide this Sunday and seeing all the Eagle supporters travel down Port Road to Alberton.
