It was a great day at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval on Saturday as we took on South Adelaide prior to the league clash against Adelaide. Firstly, it was fantastic to have our first have triple header for the year and the women were almost able to grab the win. Secondly the Football Club did an amazing job in promoting and creating awareness for breast cancer with the ladies day. Congratulations to all involved.
The Reserves had a welcome return to the winners list with a 67 point victory. In a large win it’s easy to talk about attacking play but it was pleasing to see a strong commitment to defense from our players on Saturday and our scores were the result of good pressure on the opposition. Down back Tom Schmusch again performed well and was strongly supported in the midfield by Ethan Haylock who is making a strong return from injury. Up forward Jordan Kasianowicz kicked 6 goals, Cooper Sharman 2 goals and Deakan Jackson 3 goal. In the ruck Jarrad Redden put together a strong 4 quarters with 40 hit outs.
This week we play on Sunday in a special day as it’s Anzac Day and a grand final rematch against North Adelaide. We hope to see a big turnout to support the boys.
