Round one seen us at home for what was a great day for our Club and supporters with the unfurling of the flag and debuting 8 new faces to the Woodville West Torrens Football Club in warmer than usual conditions.
In the first half of the game, we had won the majority of the ball but unfortunately we were met with poor forward entries which resulted in several behinds kicking 4 goals 8 points to Sturt 5 goals 5 points.
At half time we addressed the teams defence as Sturt were kicking through this with too much ease in the second quarter.
Our midfielders were getting on top in the second half and pushing the ball forward which saw us have 29 inside 50’s and keeping Sturt to 13 for the day which was a great effort by the team.
With 8 debutants in the side and 10 premiership players not playing from 2020, we will continue to work on gelling the group together and playing good two way football.
We look forward to the challenge of going down to Glenelg and facing two strong sides in both their Reserves and League teams.
I look forward to seeing as many Eagle supporters down at ACH Stadium on Saturday.
