In our last home and away game for the year, we faced an in form Centrals on their home deck. The game was an arm wrsestle in the first quarter and our ability to see us kick straight gave us an edge at quarter time.
Second quarter was much the same; with both us and Centrals going goal for goal, which saw us have a 10 point lead at half time. Our third quarter saw us have some good passages of play; which resulted in some good forward entries; going in with a 20 point lead at 3 quarter time.
The last quarter, Centrals were cleaner with the footy and able to use the ball better throughout the quarter. Our boys continued to fight hard till the end, with Nick Hayes kicking a late goal to see us edge in front. Centrals surged the ball late in the last quarter, and took a mark 15 metres out, 5 seconds from the game ending.
Our better players on the day were Nick Hayes (3 goals) and pressure in the forward half; Tsitas & Toumpas also battled hard in the middle of the ground. Our defenders worked hard all day on a big oval.
Congratulations to James Rowe, who tied for the Ken Farmer Medal with Glenelg’s Liam McBean; finishing the season with 38 goals. Well done to Brad Graham and the Reserves boys for finishing 2nd on the ladder and getting themselves into the finals, and Shane Reardon with making U18s making the finals. It is great to see all 3 grades make finals.
Players are looking forward to the challenge of North Adelaide in a 2nd semi final this week.
We hope to see as many Eagles supporters as possible at Adelaide Oval.
