Woodville-West Torrens may not have won a game in its inaugural season but that won’t stop the Eagles from aiming high ahead of the 2020 Statewide Super Women’s League season.
The Eagles have landed arguably the most high-profile recruit during the off-season, with former West Adelaide captain Alli Evans set to reignite her career at Oval Avenue after a one season hiatus.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, Eagles coach Tess Baxter hinted that Evans would be strongly considered for a leadership role in her first season at the club, such is her presence on and off the field.
The 27-year-old – the younger sister of Jack Oatey Medallist Fraser Evans – can play both as a key defender or even as a mobile ruck, giving Baxter plenty of options with her star recruit.
Two exciting teenagers are also ready to make their mark at senior level, with Jaida Tabb and Jamie Parish earmarked for Statewide Super Women’s League debuts.
Tabb, the younger sister of newly drafted Crows AFLW player Jaimi Tabb, is aged just 15 while Parish, who is also a talented basketballer, is only 16 but that won’t faze Baxter who is ready to launch the duo in 2020.
Emerging forward Chloe Forby is being groomed to play out of the centre square next year after a promising season as a midfielder locally with SMOSH West Lakes.
