After coming off a bye we faced an in form West Adelaide side, who had won the last 2 out of 3 games. It was a big week as we would celebrate one of our great players, Pat Giufredda who was playing his 200th game.
We don’t a lot of work on our defence over the 2 weeks leading into this game, as this was an area we needed to work on. The first quarter seen the ball going up and down tehe field, with a lot of skill turnover
The second and third quarter saw us slow the ball down at times; and playing the game in our forward half of the ground which allowed us to set up well structurally behind the ball. We also saw some midfield dominance kicking 16 goals in 2 quarters.
The final quarter saw the game played in our forward 50 with a lot of numbers back; making it challenging to score at times. Patrick Giuffreda drifted forward, kicking his 5th goal in his WWTFC Football career.
Our better players on the day were Jimmy Toumpas, James Tsitas, Dane McFarlane, Sam Rowland and Riley Knight.
Congratulations to Luke Beecken who also kicked his first 2 league goals, and Ben Junfger who kicked his first goal for the league side.
A huge congratulations to Patty Giuffreda on his 200th game. Patty is the ultimate Club man and deserves everything that comes his way.
We look forward to taking on 3rd place Norwood at home, in what will be a real challenge for our boys.
We look forward to seeing all the Eagles fans back at our home ground this Saturday.
