Woodville-West Torrens has selected Crows rookie Jasmine Simmons with the first selection in the 2021 SANFLW Mini-Draft on Wednesday.
Originally from Broken Hill, Simmons is a talented basketballer who played the past three seasons with Oregon State University in the US.
The 180cm utility is expected to play a role across half-forward and the wing while playing for the Eagles in the SANFLW and Crows in the AFLW.
Sturt selected returning Crow Jasmyn Hewett with Pick No.2 in the SANFLW Mini-Draft, having originally played seven AFLW games with the Crows in 2018.
The 184cm utility’s flexibility will allow her to play a role in the ruck and as a key position target after also spending 2020 on the Gold Coast Suns’ AFLW list.
Hewett has been a dominant force in the Northern Territory, this year winning the Gwynne Medal for MVP and Williams Medal for best-on-ground in the NTFLW Grand Final.
The SANFLW Mini-Draft is held when AFLW-listed recruits need to be allocated to a SANFL club, with the order of draft selections based on the reverse ladder positions from the previous season.
