The Under 18s lost their 1st Semi Final on Saturday, going down to the Blues by 10 points.
Kicking with the aid of the breeze we probably didn’t quite capitalise on our 13 Forward 50 entries but we took an 18 point lead into quarter time. Sturt took their turn with the breeze and kicked 4 goals but we were able to kick 2 of our own and it was 6 points the difference at half time.
We played well in the 3rd quarter kicking 5 goals but Sturt kicked 3 as well so it was set for a big last quarter with the Eagles holding a 16 point advantage. The Blues got on top of us at stoppages and took control of the game with some early goals ending with 6 for the quarter and although we fought it out until the end kicking 2 goals ourselves they were deserved winners.
All our players gave their all as you would expect in a final with special mentions to Tyler Welsh who kicked 6 goals, Tate Delmenico, Rome Burgoyne and Darcy Hudson who were resolute in defence and Jordan Tilbrook, Jett Hasting and Harry Dodd who battled hard in our midfield.
As it is my last match report for the season I would like to say thanks to all the coaches, medical and support staff, the players and their families for their support and commitment to our Under 18 program. We had some very good results through the year and even in the losses we kept fighting – we were in every game we played with an average losing margin of just 10 points.
