The Under 18s played a tough match against North Adelaide with the Roosters winning by 6 points. North started well and kicked the first 3 goals before we were able to hit back with 2 late goals – one right on the siren with a great snap from a stoppage. The second quarter continued in the same vein with both sides trading goals and it was tied up at the half time break with both teams showing an accurate 5 goals 1 point each. Both defences were on top and scoring was tough because of it.
The game opened up in the third quarter with 9 goals kicked by both teams but unfortunately for us North kicked 6 of them to take a 17 point lead into the last quarter. We played some good footy in the last quarter kicking 3 goals whilst holding North to just 1 but we were 6 points short on the siren.
Callum Fairall was a strong contributor in our midfield again and Isaac Niemann did some good work in ruck and around the ground. Tyler Welsh was always a threat up forward with 4 goals and Kane Elliott-Karpany was also lively with his 2 goals. Oscar Pearce also did well in a new role up forward with 3 goals. Pat Toole and Tarik Sauer both worked hard in our midfield and generated some good drive for us.
It was great this week to have Tyler Bigg play his first game for the year and he acquitted himself well in our defence.
This week we play South Adelaide at home on Sunday from 1pm.
