The Woodville West Torrens Football Club wishes to advise all its members, sponsors and supporters that last night Daniel Menzel advised the Club his time at the Eagles has come to an end.
After joining the Club ahead of the 2021 season, Daniel played a pivotal role in the club going back-to-back premiers that year kicking 44 goals for the season, including four in the grand final. He backed that up in 2022, claiming the Ken Farmer Medal for the most goals in the League, kicking 51 goals.
CEO Luke Powell said, “Since Dan arrived at the Eagles he has given outstanding service to the Club and been a terrific player and mentor for our younger players. In the process Dan has been able to achieve the ultimate success winning a premiership and being awarded the Ken Farmer Medal. Dan has endured may setbacks in his career due to ongoing injuries, so to see him get some great continuity in his body being able to play majority of the time was great to see and is a testament to his professionalism in preparing for Football. Dan will forever be a part of the Eagles family and we wish him all the best with the next phase of his life”.
On his time at the Club Daniel said, “It has been a challenging year for me personally and whilst I’m disappointed in how it has ended, I have had a great three years at this club having achieved some personal success and the ultimate success with a premiership which I will cherish forever. Further to that, the relationships and the people I have met, influenced and been influenced by, will remain with me and shape me for my future endeavours which I am very grateful for.”
On behalf of the Woodville West Torrens Football Club, please join us in wishing Dan and his partner Ashley all the best with their future endeavours and thank Dan for his outstanding service to the Eagles.
