The Under 18s had a very good win against South Adelaide on Saturday, coming from 12 points down at half time to record a 47 point win.
The first quarter was reasonably even with both side scoring pretty freely – we took at 3 point lead into quarter time after kicking accurately for 4 goals 1 point to the Panthers 3goals 4 points.
South controlled the ball and the scoreboard in the second quarter and took a 12 point lead into half time – it might have been more but for some inaccurate kicking by South and it was clear we had some work to do.
The players responded well after half time winning more of the contest and using the ball well and with the benefit of some late goalswe had established a 15 point lead at quarter time with a 5 goal quarter whilst holding South to 1 goal.
Our good play continued in the last quarter, extending the margin to 47 points.
We had many good players but Izaac Niemann leading our rucks all day was very strong, winning a lot of the footy around the ground (25 possessions, 6 marks) and he was supported well by fellow big man in Charlie West (9 marks and 3 goals). Harry Dodd and Jett Hasting continued their good form in our midfield, Riley Davey and Archie Charles were good performers on their wings, Jake Andrews was a resolute defender and Josh Capogreco’s 4 goals were very valuable along with Judah Netschitowsky’s 3 goals in just his 2nd game of under 18 footy.
This Saturday we face the challenge of Central Districts at X Convenience Oval from 1.45pm which will be a clash of the current top two teams.
