Villi’s U16’s Match Report – Round 6

With two new debutants, Mitchell MacDonald & Jed White, we took on North Adelaide at Maughan Thiem Kia.

Our consistency over 4 Quarters and in particular our defensive mindset was a focus in the lead up to the Game. We began well with taking the lead by 24 points midway thru the first quarter, however to North’s credit they fought back and reduced the margin to 10 points at the Quarter break.

North continued with its ascendency in the early part of the second but with inaccurate kicking could only manage 5 points, whilst we kicked 2 straight goals to open up a 17 point lead at the main break.

In a tight second half our boys showed some resilience in not allowing North to take the game away from them, in which we kicked 5 goals 3, to North’s 4 goals 6 and went on to win the game by 20 points.

In what was a pretty even performance, Jack Cook continued his good form as did Brock Jamieson also kicking  a goal, Jevan Phillipou found a bit of the footy and kicked 3 goals, Freddie Wilson in Ruck & Full Forward contributed nicely in those areas also kicking a goal. 

Hayden Willmott down back played a good leaders game, James Chalubek kicked 1 goal and looked dangerous. Zane Peucker 2 goals, Lachie Sands 1, Barnaby Wheare 1 and Charlie McKay 1 goal also hit the score board.

This week we look forward to taking on Sturt at Wigan Oval.
