The Development League team took on Norwood at the Parade on Friday Night. A strong breeze to the northern end but a great evening for footy.
Kicking with the breeze in the first quarter we started slowly with Norwood making the most of their opportunities against the breeze. 10 minutes in we started to get our ball movement going and looked quite dangerous up forward. Mikayla Cavallaro and Avah Topp were able to kick goals in the first giving us the lead going into the break. In the second quarter our work rate and intensity lifted but we were unable to stop Norwood who kicked 3 quick goals to stretch the margin. In the third quarter the team stood up to be 2 points up at the final break. Mikayla Cavallaro kicked her second, along with Katie Murdoch and Taylor McKay. Unfortunately Norwood kicked 3.2 in the last to win by 16 points. I was really pleased to see the girls battling away right until the final siren.
Strong performers in the game were Kiana Lee who once again was strong overhead, Bianca Portaro who was fantastic down back all game and has put some really solid performances together. Along with Mikayla Cavallaro on a wing and Audrey Holt in the middle of the ground.
We look forward to taking on Glenelg Saturday morning at Hisense Stadium this week.
