Romeo’s U18 Round 8 Match Report

The Under 18s had a good win against Norwood on Saturday. The first quarter was tight with both defences on top and we took at narrow 5 point lead into quarter time. It was a similar pattern in the second quarter with both teams having 5 shots on goal although goals were hard to come by and the halftime score was locked away at 3 goals 5 points each.  Our third quarter was our best as we able to win the ball more consistently and make better conversion of our forward 50 entries and we kicked 6 goals 3 points while holding the Redlegs to 2 points.  In the last quarter we continued to play pretty well and ran out 51 point winners – a 10 goal to 2 goal last half was a good response to the tied scores at half time.

Mattaes Phillipou and Will Neumann were very good ball winners in our midfield and up forward,  Blake Hansen did well on his wing and in defence, Liam Ueding continued to provide us with good rebound from defence , Sam Nicholls was always strong around the ball and Jordan Lukac was a good target for us up forward with 4 goals. This week we debuted Lachy and Jayden Hendry, with both doing well in the first games, Lachy in defence and Jayden in our forward line.

We now look forward to taking on Central Districts at home this coming Saturday.
